It started when our Dota2 manager, Ryan “RyuriaL” Tan informed me about our team facing some problems. After some talks and discussions with everyone on the team, I got to know that Mr.Swish was:Tweetread more
News classification: HeadlinesGames category: Dota 2 Earlier this week, there was an interview that got published in Mineski.net about Mr.Swish, one of Team Duskbin.DotA2?s contracted players. In the article, Mr.Swish was quoted as being intent on leaving the team. With the recent successes of Duskbin in their international tournaments and the wildcard qualifiers for The International 2 on the 6th, this was quite a surprising turn of events. I got in touch with team captain Michael ?ninjaboogie? Ross and got some inside information on the matter.
GameVolution.org: Hi Mike, congratulations on the victory in the recent JoinDota SEA tournament! With the team?s clearly progressing growth, Mr.Swish?s decision to abandon DuskBin must have come as quite a shock.
ninjaboogie: Yeah, after the whole bootcamp and tournament in Singapore i thought that the team bonded quite well together. Even though we underperformed in the Gigagbyte Masters Tournament and lost to zenith having a 1-0 lead after game 1 in the SG evo tourney I felt that everything was moving up for the team. Throughout the time together there were no major conflicts, maybe slight disagreements on how each player plays and such but we talked and sorted everything out in a mature way. Being teammates with Swish for nearly 2 years, I was really not expecting him to leave as suddenly as he did.
GameVolution.org: Well, in his interview, Mr.Swish is quoted as saying that he was ?leaving the team because [he] would rather have [his] personal friends? as teammates. Was Mr.Swish very much estranged from the other players in the team?
ninjaboogie: I believed that me and lei both saw Swish as a personal friend. Me being teammates with him for nearly 2 years while Lei and Swish decided to form a Dota2 team during their HoN days. During the Razer Dota2 Tourney in Singapore back in March-April Lei paid for Swish?s flight so i figured they were more than just friends. So it really doesn?t seem to me that he didn?t have personal friends within DuskBin.Dota2.
GameVolution.org: So has Mr.Swish?s unexpected decision to quit despite how things were going damaged the team?s morale? And has the team been able to find someone who will be able to bond well with the rest of the team in time to participate in upcoming tournaments?
ninjaboogie: The actual damage the team has sustained from his departure was alot less than expected. We?ve been able to bounce back in a suprisingly short period of time with new members that we will announce at a later date. From what i see, the team will reach greater heights now that we?ve gotten this lapse of judgement out of the way, and are able to proceed on to building a team truly based off its members, and not revolving around the reputation of any player.
GameVolution.org: So, moving forward, what are DuskBin?s future plans? What team/s do you think is/are your strongest threat in the qualifiers for the last two slots in the International 2 tournament?
ninjaboogie: We will continue our training and join as many tournaments in SEA possible. For the international qualifier i believe the toughest opponents will be TongFu and WE.
Gamevolution.org: Thank you so much for the time and good luck on the International 2 qualifiers on June 6.
